  1. What's the chances of getting scrolling notifications when the icon is set to information?

Nice update, ss has came a long way.

    1. I cannot understand exactly your question. Would you explain it again?
And now I'm fully rewriting the next generation of ssLauncher. I think it will take 3~4 months to release.

  2. The BEST launcher! Great work! May I ask for some new features though? If you look at this home screen which I built for someone using a different launcher: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v485/Jimrin/Assets/Android/launcherscreen_zpsb7595512.png

The features I would need to use SquareHome for her phone are:
    1. As you noticed, I put gray tiles offset slightly to give a 3D look. In fact, if you can see closely, the gray tiles are slightly transparent to give more of the 3D look. I know the "flat" look is popular now, but I'm not the type of person who wants to be like everyone else.
    2. As you may notice, there is quite a bit of space between the tiles to be able to show more of the background. The current max in SquareHome is 200 and would be too small to recreate this screen.
    3. The position as shown in this screen capture is the default home screen position. I actually have some tiles above (and obviously below) what is shown. The tiles above are for quick access, like contacts. So it would be great if I could specify which row in SquareHome is the default position.
    4. The Home button returns to the home position. It would be great if the Back button can do the same.

    Keep up the great work!

    1. Thank you for the suggestion. 1 and 2 can be done by a new theme for SquareHome. I will try to make it. And I will consider the other suggestions.
      Thanks.

    2. I thought I already wrote a reply, but since I wrote it from my phone, perhaps I did something wrong. I wanted to thank you for the consideration. I really enjoy SquareHome and will show it off to as many friends and colleagues as I can.

By the way, as I would like to use SquareHome on all of my devices, I would also like to use it on Android devices hooked up to my TV (ie, devices running standard Android, not GoogleTV/AndroidTV). However, I noticed SquareHome does not recognize the (arrow) navigation keys (D-pad)... so it does not allow me to navigate to apps using those keys. I dislike trying to use a mouse to navigate on a "10-foot user interface". Would it be possible to support navigating using navigation keys/D-pad? Thanks!

    3. I'm already considering it too. But it will take some time to be implemented.

    4. Thanks much! While I'm on a roll and you're not tired of suggestions from me yet (or maybe you are!), it would be nice if the scroll wheel works, too. While on the tablet version, the scroll where may have limited use, I am tempted then to try the portrait phone version so that I can more easily scroll. If you consider that there are Android "PCs" out there, people will want to use their scroll wheel when using Android as a desktop computer. In addition, any setting pages, app drawers, etc, which may require scrolling, the scroll wheel comes in handy. Thanks for the consideration!

  3. Thanks! You're FAST! The D-pad navigation works and looks great! I am setting up an Android TV box for a neighbor and will use your launcher on it. (For this Android TV box, the D-pad works better than its mouse capabilities.) Thanks again!

    1. Strange. I thought I posted this but I can't find it, so I could be losing my mind. But anyway, I am using the Mele "Fly Mouse" which is a wireless air mouse... The D-pad works great, but the Enter key doesn't work at all with SquareHome. It works in other apps like Settings and Google Play Store, but not with SquareHome. I used a keyevent app, and one unique thing I found was that when I press the Enter key on the Mele remote, it only seems to provide the KeyUp event for code=66, not the corresponding KeyDown event. I have no idea why that is, but somehow other apps recognize this... Is there any way you can recognize the way the Mele Fly Mouse works? Or at least make it configurable? As I want to use this for an Android stick for my TV, I plan to use the Mele Fly Mouse as the remote. Thanks in advance for the consideration!

  4. Great work. I like the new updates especially the ability to edit tile labels. Can I make sure suggestions for the next update?

    1. Ability to increase tile size up to 200% or 250% for those who want really big icons. 150% max is big but can be bigger.

    2. Option to align text on some forms to center. For example 'next event' 'today' and 'time' forms text is right aligned. Option to align center or left align would be nice similar to date/time Form.

    3. Fix bug on next event form. It doesn't display some calendar items. Not sure why.

    4. Preinstalled apps have no image in auto image form. Please fix to use stock icon if does not find Web store icon.

    5. Allow applying a style to fixed widget. Now it is only transparent.

  5. Not sure when this started happening, but when I use Japanese for a group label, it shows the first character as two diamonds as if it is not recognizing it as a Japanese character. I don't believe this happened when I first installed SquareHome.Tablet.

By the way, if you're looking for additional projects, what about a SquareHome inspired lock screen? We would be able to define tiles on the left side which we drag over to the right to open that app immediately. I'm currently using Cover lock screen, but I would be just as happy having a SquareHome look and feel for my lock screen, too. (And it would be cool to get the OK Google enabled from the lock screen.)

    1. It's a font issue. Try to change the font file.
I could not find a technically perfect way to develop the lock screen. All third party lock screen apps are not working like the stock one. If Android framework will fully support the API for the lock screen, I will consider to develop it.

    2. Thanks for the tip... I don't think that was it though: (1) when typing in the characters, there are no problems, (2) the characters display ok initially, (3) it seems only after restarting the tablet that there are character issues, (4) the group label I was trying to enter was 日本語. When I added 日本語 at the end of a label called Maps, there was no problem. (5) I found a workaround that if I type in the characters 勉強 日本語, everything displays ok... I haven't had time to play around anymore since I found a workaround, but if I notice any other pattern about the problem, I'll let you know.

  6. (I thought I already posted this but apparently not...) A couple of more suggestions to make SquareHome even more incredible than it already is.

Since I'm not an Apple iOS fan, I don't know if this is an iOS feature, but I like placing a gap between the tiles to see the background. You could use the accelerometer to tell when the phone is being tilted and then slightly move the background. It would give the home screen a 3D type of effect.

Another feature would be to allow horizontal scrolling where appropriate. If you look at the latest The Weather Channel app, in general, everything scrolls vertically. However, there are some rows like the 10-day forecast where you can scroll horizontally. I'd like to do this, for example, a specific row is a contact type of row, so I might have phone, SMS, Gmail, Contacts, Skype, Whats App etc all in the same row...

I'm not exactly sure how to implement this effect in the tablet version, though...

Anyway, keep up the great work!

I have a plan to rebuild the next generation of SquareHome after finished the current project. I will consider some of your ideas in the version.

  9. Thank you.
Perhaps this is the best launcher for TV boxes.

Can you implement the following functions:
    1. When operating the d-pad, there are widgets that can not hover. Can you add the settings for these widgets to add the forced focus and the action when you press the d-pad on this widget.
    2. For the third-party widgets we can change only the background color. Please add the ability to assign individual background picture, as it is now implemented in the tiles apps.
    3. The ability to assign for folders their own wallpaper.
    4. Now the widget is automatic installed on the center of the tile. It would be convenient centering widget in the tile by user.
    5. Animated background for titles.

    Thanks
